1. Who we are
Shop Wise is an app for managing your home pantry: expiry dates, shopping list, recipes based on the ingredients you have, and receipt scanning. This policy explains how the app handles your information.
Shop Wise is a product published by Daxya, which is the data controller under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR). Because the app runs entirely locally and does not collect personal data (see below), Daxya neither receives nor stores any information relating to you. For any request you can still contact the controller using the details in point 10.
2. What data we process
The app stores some information locally only, in your browser's or the
app's storage on your device (localStorage). This data
never leaves the device and is not accessible to us or to third parties:
- the products in your pantry and their expiry dates;
- your shopping lists (you can have more than one) and the recipes you save as favorites;
- the purchase history derived from the receipts you scan (store, date, amount, per-item prices);
- your settings (name, language, theme, scan preferences, reminders).
We do not collect identifying data (name, email, location) and we do not build any user profile.
3. Receipt scanning
Receipt scanning happens entirely on your device: text recognition (OCR) runs locally, offline. Photos and receipts are not uploaded to any server. The image is processed on the spot and is not kept by the app: only the data you confirm (products, prices, total) is saved locally.
4. Device permissions
- Camera / photos: used only to frame or select a receipt to scan. The images stay on the device.
- Notifications: optional (can be enabled in Settings) and used only to remind you locally about products nearing expiry. Reminders are generated on the device, with no push-notification server.
5. Hosting and visit statistics
We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone. The app contains no ad networks and no SDKs that follow you across different sites or apps, and it builds no advertising profiles.
The technical provider involved is Vercel (Vercel Inc.), which plays two roles for the web version only of the app:
- Hosting: the app's files are downloaded from Vercel's servers which, like any website, may record standard technical connection data in their logs (IP address, browser type, date and time) solely to deliver the app and ensure its security.
- Visit statistics (Vercel Web Analytics): to understand how many people use the app and which pages are visited, we collect anonymous, aggregated navigation data (page visited, link referrer, country, device/browser type). This statistic uses no cookies, stores no persistent identifier on your device and does not identify you: the IP address is used only in transit and is not retained. It is therefore not possible to trace it back to you or to follow you over time or across sites.
The version installed from the app stores (Google Play / App Store) contains the app's files within it and, on launch, does not contact our hosting and sends no visit statistics. Visit statistics have nothing to do with your local data (pantry, lists, receipts, settings), which stays on the device as described in points 2-4.
6. Cookies
The app does not use cookies for tracking or profiling; not even the visit statistics described in point 5 use cookies. Local storage technologies serve only to make the app work and to keep your data on the device.
7. Your data, under your control
Since everything is stored locally, you have full control over your data:
- you can export it at any time from Settings → backup;
- you can delete it by removing individual items in the app, or by clearing the app's / site's data from your device or browser settings;
- uninstalling the app removes the data stored locally.
You are in any case entitled to the rights provided by Articles 15-22 of the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability). Because the controller neither collects nor stores any data about you, it holds no information on which to exercise them outside your device, where you already have full control as described above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, or your country's data protection authority).
8. Children
Shop Wise is not intended for collecting children's data and, since it collects no personal data, it does not knowingly process information relating to minors.
9. Changes to this policy
If in the future we introduce features that require processing data off the device (for example an account or online services), we will update this policy and notify you in the app before activation. The date at the top indicates the latest revision.
